Tottenham Boss Thomas Frank Labels Vicario Critics 'Not Genuine Fans'

The Cottagers Start Strong to Defeat Tottenham and Increase Pressure on Frank

Spurs fans who booed goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario were told later "those individuals cannot be true Tottenham supporters" by manager Frank.

Spurs let in a pair of scores in the first six minutes to fall 2-1 to Fulham, marking their 10th top-flight home defeat of the year.

But the main topic of discussion was the visitors' second score when Vicario lost the ball well outside his area.

He ventured out to deal with a high pass and took the ball near the touchline.

But, rather than kicking it out of play, the Italy international turned and tried to clear, but lost his footing as the ball glanced off Wilson and was collected by Josh King.

King passed the ball off to Wales midfielder Wilson, who curled a strike into the net from the sideline measured at thirty-six point six yards.

Moments later when the ball went to the keeper once more, a number of Spurs fans booed him.

The team were booed off at the interval, with the side 2-0 down, and again at full-time.

A particular of those booing episodes truly angered Frank.

"I heard a few of our supporters reportedly jeered the situation and booed after, which, in my view is totally unjustifiable," the Danish manager commented regarding the fans' response to his shot-stopper.

"Those individuals cannot be real Spurs supporters that act that way. Alright jeering following the match, fine, but when we are playing, we are backing each other, we are with each other moving ahead."

Tete had handed Fulham a fourth-minute lead prior to Wilson's strike – with Mohammed Kudus netting for Spurs in an improved second period showing.

Former Premier League goalkeeper Joe Hart remarked that the second score was "completely avoidable".

"I do appreciate the fans' frustration," the ex-keeper added. "I am aware the part Vicario is playing. He's a great team player, he is a true figure in the dressing room but in the end you are going to be assessed by your actions.

"The keeper was deeply implicated in what turned out to be the decisive score."

'It's Part of Football, I'm a Big Man'

Frank Stood Up For His Goalkeeper Vicario Following the Game

Italy national team the keeper is in his third season with Tottenham.

He said following the game that he had to accept the feedback.

"The second goal was a error of mine, I accept accountability for that," he commented.

"My aim was to kick the ball far and I just hit the ball in a bad way. That made an more difficult challenge to overcome."

He stated receiving jeers "is part of the game".

"I'm a big man, how can I respond?" he continued. "We cannot be affected by the circumstances in the stands. Supporters have the right to do what they think.

"It's on the team to stay more composed, to focus on ourselves. The team is missing in composure and calmness to reverse results. Today is a bad loss and it is tough to take."

'I Was Surprised No One Returned to the Line'

Despite Vicario's error, it was far from an easy score for Harry Wilson to score.

Actually it was the next longest-range Premier League score of the season – after Tyler Adams' 43.3 yard strike for the Cherries against Sunderland, which interestingly too came on Saturday.

The goalscorer stated he was "somewhat surprised" that he still had an empty goal to aim for.

Ten moments passed between the keeper exiting of his area and Wilson striking – which was five moments following the kick.

"It seemed to me like the goalkeeper was away from the box for ages," Wilson remarked.

"I was surprised none of the defenders went back to the line. When none of them defended the goal, my interest lit up somewhat.

"[Destiny] Udogie fell too, which allowed me a bit of extra time. After that it was all about trying to make the correct contact and place it on target. I felt a positive sense, the moment it came off my boot, that it was on the right line."

'When You're in a Bad Spell, All Seems to Work Against You'

Jeering While We Are Still Playing Is Totally Unacceptable - Frank

While the keeper's mistake dominated headlines, this was an overall bad day for Tottenham to extend their home woes.

This was their tenth home loss of 2025 in the league, a joint team record matching 1994 and 2003.

They still have home games against Frank's former club Brentford and champions Liverpool to come prior to the close of the year.

Just a single of those victories have occurred since Frank took over from Ange Postecoglou in the summer.

"When you're down 2-0 following the opening, there is a mountain to overcome," said the boss.

"When you're in a poor run, all aspects seems to go against you as well – the first was a deflected attempt, the next is a error from Vic.

"This result puts us in a place where we have suffered an additional game. Every game has a unique story, this game we lost in the first six minutes.

"We just need to keep working. The second half was much better and with luck an aspect we can use to develop."

Spurs have lost 4 straight at home London derbies for the initial time in the top division.

Furthermore they are averaging nine point five shots and three point two shots on target per game in the division – their poorest averages on file in a one season (since at least the 2003-04 season).

Ex- Fulham midfield player Danny Murphy commented that Frank has to endure the criticism.

"He's got take the stick," the pundit remarked. "He has taken a prestigious role at a major football club with enormous expectation. There is scrutiny and duty that comes with that.

"The performances at home have been poor and they have to get better {quickly|
