Slot Maintains He Feels Secure and Has The Club's Backing Following PSV Defeat

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it was natural for questions to be raised about his position following another heavy defeat versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their ninth loss in 12 matches, marking the team's worst streak after being relegated in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Dutch league champions on a punishing evening at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I have got significant backing from above,” Slot commented.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and get a victory naturally but when you're coaching a team and not doing well then it's typical that people question you.”

He added, “I'm comfortable with my role. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a challenging situation but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to provide details on his dialogues with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach said:

“We communicate frequently. They assist for the squad and for me and those talks happen but they don't phone me every single minute each day to say they back me.”

He added, “In the normal conversations we have I feel the belief. But I've not talked to them after this game so far so it remains to be seen.”

Persistent Issues and Squad Response

Slot expressed regret over known weaknesses from his team in their European defeat, specifically poor finishing and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more direct in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the answers. Frankly, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder stated.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to consider it. I’m past feeling anger inside. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He continued, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the club I love. I'm a supporter, and I've watched this club all my life.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team enduring a phase such as this with performances like these.”

He finished, “However we still have that badge on our shirts. And until it is gone, we will always fight.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad back to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all once more what this club is about and the reason it's called the greatest side in the planet.”

“But right now, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
