President Trump Invites Loved Ones of Shot National Guard Members to the White House

Former President Trump stated on the weekend that he has asked the family of a National Guard member killed last week to attend the White House.

He added that he spoke to her parents and they were “devastated”.

Background on the Heartbreaking Incident

US army specialist Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a violent incident on last Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her fellow service member, Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, is still in the hospital in serious condition.

Vigils across the state have occurred in their memory.

Presidential Offer

The president said he’s talked about a meeting at the presidential residence for the parents of both members of the West Virginia Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a tough thing, come to the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” the president addressed journalists. “And similarly with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”

Public Response

Community members came together over the weekend at Webster County high school in the state to honor Beckstrom.

Both they had been working with the state guard as part of Trump’s national effort to aid policing efforts in Washington DC.

Paying Tribute to Beckstrom

“Sarah was the kind of student that instructors hoped for. She carried herself with quiet strength, a contagious smile and a optimistic attitude that encouraged people around her,” the principal, the leader of Beckstrom’s former high school, told the media. “She was caring, compassionate and always ready to assist people.”

Memorial details for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.

Judicial Steps and Government Revisions

Law enforcement have charged a 29-year-old suspect with one count of murder and two counts of assault with intent to kill while carrying a weapon.

The tragedy caused the administration to pause asylum applications and halt granting entry permits to possessors of travel documents.

Condition of the Airman

The airman, a resident of the city, started his military career in February 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, as reported by the AP.

He is still undergoing care and is “battling to survive”, West Virginia governor Morrisey said on a news program.

Attorney general the attorney general told Fox News Sunday that she planned to visit his relatives.

Memory of Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from Summersville, completed her education from Webster County High in June 2023 and joined the military shortly after, working as a MP with honor, according to the state guard.

“She had a lot of goodness and she absolutely had bravery,” Morrisey told the gathering at the memorial. “Though her time ended too soon, she has left a mark that’s going to be remembered always.”
