Netflix Selects Spot-On Performer for Mr. 2 in One Piece Season 3
Baroque Works is set to make a major impact in Netflix’s upcoming season of One Piece, although the real showdown won’t take place until the third season, and a adored, audience-beloved member has now been chosen.
The streaming service revealed recently that Cole Escola is now part of the One Piece upcoming season’s lineup and will play Mr. 2. Bon Clay can use their power to transform into an exact copy of any person they’ve laid a hand on with their main hand. The performer, who is identifies as non-binary and goes by they/them, will portray a rendition of that figure reimagined as gender non-binary, instead of as a drag performer, in the live-action show, differing from the source material and cartoon version.
The new cast member will work alongside a number of new cast members tasked with bringing the group to life, including leader Sir Crocodile, portrayed by Joe Manganiello, Sophia Anne Caruso as another operative, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, who also joins the cast as King Nefertari Cobra of the desert kingdom.
Although Bon Clay is a important part of the group, the character won’t appear until One Piece season 3. With the second season likely to portray the Little Garden storyline, this marks a major departure in the schedule of Bon Clay’s introduction, one that could signal more adjustments to the narrative framework.
Escola’s blend of excellent comedic sense and deep sensitivity makes them a standout choice for the role. Along with their current animated role in the animated feature Boys Go to Jupiter, they earned widespread acclaim and multiple awards for creating and performing in the hit comedy play Oh Mary!, highlighting the adaptability they’ll bring to one of One Piece’s most celebrated figures.
Netflix's live-action One Piece program is set to return for its next installment on the tenth of March, 2026.
