Chief Executive Approves Legislation to Release Further Jeffrey Epstein Records After Months of Pushback

The US leader stated on Wednesday night that he had endorsed the legislation decisively approved by US legislators that directs the justice department to make public more records related to the convicted sex offender, the late sex offender.

The move arrives after weeks of pushback from the leader and his backers in the legislature that split his Maga base and caused divisions with various established backers.

The president had fought against releasing the Epstein files, calling the matter a "fabrication" and criticizing those who sought to release the files available, even though pledging their disclosure on the campaign trail.

But he reversed course in recent days after it was evident the legislative chamber would pass the legislation. The president said: "Everything is transparent".

The details are unknown what the department will make public in following the measure – the measure specifies a range of potential items that should be made public, but provides exceptions for specific records.

Trump Signs Bill to Require Publication of Additional Jeffrey Epstein Records

The legislation mandates the top justice official to make unclassified Epstein-related files accessible to the public "in an easily accessible digital format", covering each examination into Epstein, his colleague Maxwell, flight logs and movement logs, individuals cited or listed in relation to his offenses, institutions that were connected with his exploitation or economic systems, exemption arrangements and further court deals, internal communications about prosecution choices, records of his detention and passing, and information about possible record elimination.

The department will have one month to provide the documents. The legislation provides for some exceptions, including deletions of victims' identifying information or private records, any descriptions of child sexual abuse, publications that would endanger current examinations or prosecutions and depictions of demise or exploitation.
